Sapta Sindhu lifetime award

Shimla : Himachal Pradesh Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla awarded Nirmal Thakur the first Maharaja Dahir Sen Sapta Sindhu Lifetime Award during a ceremony at the Raj Bhawan in Shimla. The award, organized by the Sapta Sindhu Foundation Delhi, recognized Thakur’s outstanding contributions to education, literature, and social service.

Governor Shukla praised the foundation for honoring Maharaja Dahir Sen, a historical figure, and emphasized the importance of the Sapta Sindhu region, deeply rooted in the Vedas. He highlighted Himachal Pradesh as a significant part of this region, often referred to as the “Dev Bhoomi” due to its connection to four of the seven rivers mentioned in ancient texts.

Reflecting on Maharaja Dahir Sen’s legacy, Shukla expressed hope that this award would inspire a greater recognition of the ruler’s sacrifice for the nation. He also celebrated Nirmal Thakur’s lifelong dedication to education and literature, noting her profound influence as a teacher and her contributions to poetry. Thakur’s poetry collections, *Realm of Thoughts* and *Understanding of Life*, were commended for their deep philosophical reflections.

In her acceptance speech, Thakur thanked the Governor and the Foundation, sharing that the award renewed her motivation to continue her literary work. She also credited her late husband, Justice H.S. Thakur, for inspiring her, and expressed gratitude for her family’s support throughout her journey.

The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Justice Suresh Thakur and C.P. Verma, Secretary to the Governor.
