Tiruppur, March 23: Nine government hospitals in Tiruppur district have been selected to receive advanced medical equipment and facility upgrades through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funding.

According to sources, an estimated ₹2.4 crore has been allocated to the District Health Society for installing this equipment, reducing the need for patients to travel to the district headquarters hospital or the medical college hospital for routine treatments.

At a recent District Health Society meeting, chaired by District Collector T. Christuraj, senior health department officials outlined the specific requirements of these hospitals. Discussions focused on equipping facilities with heavy-duty washing machines, ECG machines, ultrasound scanning equipment, and emergency care services to benefit patients seeking treatment at government hospitals in Avinashi, Jallipatti, Karadivavi, Madathukulam, Palladam, Uthukuli, Dharapuram, and Udumalpet.

Following the transformation of Tiruppur Government Hospital into a teaching institution with the establishment of a medical college, the Government Hospital in Kangayam was designated as the district headquarters hospital. Additionally, the Government Hospital in Dharapuram was upgraded with enhanced facilities, making it comparable to Kangayam GH.

Among the selected hospitals, those in Palladam, Udumalpet, and Dharapuram experience a significantly higher patient load than the ones in Avinashi, Uthukuli, and Madathukulam.

A proposal has also been submitted to establish a trauma and emergency care unit at Avinashi Government Hospital, which sees a high number of accident cases. Given its location along the National Highway, such a facility could be instrumental in saving the lives of accident victims, according to representatives of service organizations in Avinashi.
