Hyderabad, Dec 7 : The LV Prasad Eye Institute (LVPEI) and Fernandez Foundation co-hosted the eighth meeting of the Equitable Healthcare Access Consortium (EHAC) to foster discussions and initiatives aimed at addressing healthcare inequities in India. The meeting focused on challenges such as limited healthcare access, rising costs, and the general indifference among various stakeholders toward resolving these issues.
Representatives from organizations such as LVPEI, Fernandez Foundation, Indian School of Business, Centre for Healthcare at IIM Udaipur, St John’s Research Institute, and Aravind Eye Care System were among the attendees.
The meeting centered on promoting equitable healthcare through sessions addressing ethical practices, fellowships, collaborations, advocacy, and innovations. Key discussions included panel talks on ethical service delivery, patient rights, and the financing of sustainable healthcare organizations.
The panel highlighted the growing commercialization and consumerism in healthcare, emphasizing its negative impact on service delivery. They also discussed the need for medical professionals to be exposed to ethical service delivery models and the critical role of leadership in driving change towards equitable healthcare.
