Dubai, Nov 18 : Under the patronage of Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairperson of Dubai Culture and Arts Authority and Member of the Dubai Council, inaugurated the 9th edition of the Knowledge Summit at the Dubai World Trade Centre. Organized by the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation (MBRF) in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the two-day event aims to explore future knowledge and innovation trends.
Latifa bint Mohammed highlighted the Summit’s global importance in fostering intellectual exchange among experts, researchers, and decision-makers. She emphasized its role in addressing global challenges, driving progress, and strengthening Dubai’s position as a hub for innovation. She noted that building knowledge-driven societies requires international collaboration, creativity, and a focus on nurturing future talent. Harnessing artificial intelligence (AI) as a transformative tool is central to this vision, merging human creativity with technology to propel sustainable development.
Jamal bin Huwaireb, CEO of MBRF, underscored the Summit’s pivotal role as a global platform for advancing knowledge-based economies and fostering innovation. This year’s theme, Future Skills and AI Economy,” aligns with national priorities, leveraging AI across sectors to drive growth and sustainability. He emphasized the Summit’s contribution to empowering communities and individuals, strengthening the UAE’s status as a global leader in knowledge and innovation.
The event also unveiled the 2024 Global Knowledge Index (GKI), ranking Sweden, Finland, and Switzerland as the top three nations, with the UAE leading the Arab world. Acknowledged as a comprehensive measure of national knowledge capacity, the GKI benchmarks progress across education, research, innovation, and IT, incorporating new metrics to address the evolving global landscape. Additionally, the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Award 2024 honored notable contributors to science and innovation, including Juma Al Majid, Dr. Andrew Ng, and Dr. David M. Clark, for their global impact on knowledge advancement.
