KOCHI: V Venu, chairperson of the Kochi Biennale Foundation, announced on Friday that Sangita Jindal, chairperson of JSW Foundation, has joined as a platinum benefactor with a significant grant spanning five years.

He noted that the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Kochi Biennale Foundation and JSW Foundation signifies the start of a long-term partnership.

The Kochi-Muziris Biennale, the flagship event of the Kochi Biennale Foundation, has garnered both national and international acclaim as India’s leading mega-art event, renowned for its accessibility to art enthusiasts and the general public.

“We are thrilled to have Sangita Jindal’s support and friendship! Over the years, she has been a strong advocate for the Kochi Muziris Biennale and has contributed to initiatives aimed at enhancing the arts ecosystem in India, including her recent work with the Hampi Art Labs. We welcome her innovative ideas and visionary spirit, and we look forward to entering a new chapter at the foundation,” said Bose Krishnamachari, president of the Kochi Muziris Biennale.

A visionary who believes in art’s transformative power, Sangita established the Jindal Arts Creative Interaction Centre (JACIC) at the National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA) in 1994. She is also the publisher of Art India Magazine, which has chronicled the Indian art scene since 1996.

Sangita is an Eisenhower Fellow and serves on the Board of Trustees of the World Monuments Fund – India Chapter, as well as an advisor on the Khoj Board. She is a member of the Tate International Council, the UN Women Business Sector Advisory Council (BSAC), and serves on the governing board of Mumbai First. Additionally, she has been elected chairperson of the Asia Society India Centre for 2024.
