Mumbai, March 28 : Jio Institute, established by Reliance Industries and Reliance Foundation, marked a significant achievement by hosting its first convocation ceremony at its Navi Mumbai campus. The event brought together distinguished guests, faculty members, students, their families, and leading industry figures.
The ceremony was honored by the presence of Arundhati Bhattacharya, CEO and Chairperson of Salesforce India and South Asia, as the chief guest. Dipak C. Jain, Vice Chancellor of Jio Institute, presided over the event, celebrating the realization of a vision set forth by Nita Ambani and Mukesh Ambani to create a world-class institution that blends academic excellence with Indian values.
Graduates from diverse disciplines, including Artificial Intelligence & Data Science, Digital Media & Marketing Communications, and Sports Management, were recognized for their achievements. Raghunath A. Mashelkar, Chancellor of Jio Institute, emphasized the institution’s mission, stating, “Jio Institute is not just a place of learning but a movement that fosters innovation, courage, and excellence to shape future leaders.” He encouraged students to embrace curiosity, integrity, and boldness in their pursuits.
Arundhati Bhattacharya, in her address, drew inspiration from the Mahabharata and urged graduates to think creatively, excel in every task, and become problem solvers in their professional journeys.
Shailesh Kumar, Dean of Jio Institute, highlighted the institution’s rapid growth, noting that it has attracted students from 26 Indian states and four countries within just three years. He emphasized the industry-driven curriculum, featuring experiential learning through capstone projects, field visits, international immersion, and internships.
Students have been mentored by faculty from prestigious institutions such as Northwestern University, University of Houston, and Singapore Management University, alongside industry experts from Google, Microsoft, Deloitte, TCS, Sony, and more. Leading recruiters, including EY, KPMG, PwC, Reliance, Kotak Asset Management, and Hindalco, have also played a key role in hiring Jio Institute graduates.
The institute has also made strides in research, with over 30 research papers published in top-tier journals like Nature, IEEE Transactions, and Cell, and faculty members presenting at global conferences like CVPR, MICCAI, and ICCV.
The convocation concluded with a sense of accomplishment, as graduates celebrated their academic journey and prepared to embark on their professional careers.
