Jammu : The International Youth Development Foundation (IYDF) partnered with Kalsi Sports to host a charitable event on September 22 at the Purkhoo Migrant Camp and the Domana community in Jammu. This initiative aimed to provide essential educational and daily living supplies to underprivileged children while also offering them the joy of participating in sports activities.
Compassionate Efforts from Corporates and Volunteers
The event was spearheaded by Rahul Kalsi, the owner of Kalsi Sports, who actively participated and led a dedicated team of eight volunteers: Anju Thapa, Gourav Kalsi, Asumit Bassan, Grisham Dalia, Ajay Kumar, Neelu Sikh, Gautam Singh, and Gourav Bhardwaj. Together, they took on the responsibility of bringing care and support to the children.
Held at Nirankari Bhawan, the event benefited children from both the Purkhoo Migrant Camp and the Domana community. Asumit Bassan, the event’s coordinator, ensured everything ran smoothly, guaranteeing that each child received the assistance they required.
Providing Supplies to Address Immediate Needs
As primary supporters of the event, IYDF and Kalsi Sports contributed a variety of supplies, including schoolbags, shoes, cricket bats, balls, badminton sets, footballs, skipping ropes, porridge, milk, bread, and water bottles. These donations not only addressed the children’s educational and daily needs but also enhanced their opportunities for sports and recreational activities. The volunteers distributed these items, bringing smiles of gratitude and joy to the children’s faces.
Sports Activities Spread Joy and Energy
Following the supply distribution, an array of exciting sports competitions took place. Cricket matches, 50-meter sprints, badminton games, and skipping rope contests kept the children engaged, allowing them to channel their energy and enthusiasm. The volunteers eagerly participated in these activities, fostering a lively and cheerful atmosphere. Cricket was the event’s highlight, showcasing the children’s sporting spirit under the guidance of Rahul Kalsi and the volunteers. The 50-meter race tested the children’s speed and endurance, while badminton and skipping contests provided opportunities for them to build confidence and display their skills.
The Far-reaching Impact of Compassion
Reflecting on the event, Rahul Kalsi noted, “Helping underprivileged children goes beyond providing material support; it’s about creating a brighter future. These children often face behavioral issues, anxiety, and depression, missing out on their rights to emotional, physical, and social development. By offering education and support, we are helping them become valuable members of society and contributors to the economy in the future.”
The event not only delivered tangible assistance but also touched the children’s hearts with the compassion shown by the volunteers. Through their interactions, the volunteers reignited hope for a better future and renewed the children’s passion for learning.
Looking Ahead to a Brighter Future
As the event concluded successfully, the children left with essential supplies and the warmth of community support. The collaborative efforts of IYDF and Kalsi Sports have improved the living and learning conditions for these underprivileged children, planting seeds of hope for their future.
Rahul Kalsi and the team of volunteers expressed their commitment to continuing charitable initiatives, aiming to support more children in need and help them overcome challenges for a brighter future. IYDF remains dedicated to collaborating with various sectors of society, offering love and care to safeguard every child’s future.
