Bangalore : Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) has joined hands with The Akshaya Patra Foundation to support 1,000 students from government and government-aided schools in Jodhpur, Lucknow, and Visakhapatnam. This partnership, part of HPCL’s CSR initiatives, aims to provide hot and nutritious meals for an entire year, fostering health and education among children.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on November 7, 2024, by Rajeev Goel, Executive Director of CSR & PRCC at HPCL, and Dhananjay Ganjoo, Chief Marketing Officer of The Akshaya Patra Foundation. The Foundation, a key implementing partner of the PM POSHAN scheme, is committed to eliminating classroom hunger by delivering nutritious meals to schoolchildren across India.
Rajeev Goel expressed HPCL’s dedication to supporting the aspirations of young citizens, stating, “We hope this initiative not only meets the nutritional needs of children but also enhances their educational outcomes.” Dhananjay Ganjoo echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the importance of nutrition in enabling children to realize their dreams and expressing gratitude to HPCL for its support.
This collaboration underscores the correlation between nutrition and education. By ensuring that children receive adequate meals, the initiative aims to improve school attendance, reduce dropout rates, and enhance overall learning outcomes.
HPCL, a Maharatna CPSE with a significant market share in India’s petroleum sector, continues to prioritize community development through sustainable CSR projects. Meanwhile, The Akshaya Patra Foundation, operating since 2000, has grown into one of the largest school feeding programs globally, serving over 2.2 million children daily across 16 states and 2 union territories in India.
