Dharamour(HP), June 19: In a commendable step toward creating a drug-free society, the Himachal Pradesh Gyan Vigyan Samiti, Mandi district, has launched an ambitious anti-drug campaign in Dharampur tehsil. The campaign is part of the organization’s ongoing commitment to social reform and public awareness, with a focus on eradicating substance abuse at the grassroots level.
Under the dynamic leadership of Dr. Veena Rathore, committees have been actively formed across several gram panchayats, including Gharwasda, Sajyao, Laungani, and Jodhan. These local committees are not only engaging with the public but are also taking strong measures to educate communities about the devastating consequences of drug addiction.
What sets this campaign apart is the overwhelming public participation. Wherever these committees hold meetings, people from all walks of life are coming forward to take part, showing solidarity and a collective resolve to curb this growing social evil. Plans are already in place to extend the initiative to other areas including Bharari, Darwad, and Roso, where committees will soon be established. Once formed, these committees will similarly engage with the community through door-to-door awareness programs, village meetings, and interactive sessions, helping people understand the psychological, financial, and social toll of drug abuse.
