Dharamour(HP), June 19: In a commendable step toward creating a drug-free society, the Himachal Pradesh Gyan Vigyan Samiti, Mandi district, has launched an ambitious anti-drug campaign in Dharampur tehsil. The campaign is part of the organization’s ongoing commitment to social reform and public awareness, with a focus on eradicating substance abuse at the grassroots level.

Under the dynamic leadership of Dr. Veena Rathore, committees have been actively formed across several gram panchayats, including Gharwasda, Sajyao, Laungani, and Jodhan. These local committees are not only engaging with the public but are also taking strong measures to educate communities about the devastating consequences of drug addiction.

What sets this campaign apart is the overwhelming public participation. Wherever these committees hold meetings, people from all walks of life are coming forward to take part, showing solidarity and a collective resolve to curb this growing social evil. The campaign is being seen as a movement of the people, for the people—aiming to bring about a lasting change in mindsets and behaviors.

Plans are already in place to extend the initiative to other areas including Bharari, Darwad, and Roso, where committees will soon be established. Once formed, these committees will similarly engage with the community through door-to-door awareness programs, village meetings, and interactive sessions, helping people understand the psychological, financial, and social toll of drug abuse.

The leadership team behind this mission includes some of the most committed individuals in the region:

  • Dr. Veena Rathore – Chairperson of the campaign

  • Shri Bhola Dutt Kashyap – Chief Advisor, offering strategic guidance and mentorship

  • Shri Rantaj Rana – Executive President, managing operations and outreach

  • Shri Satish Kumar – General Secretary

  • Shri Hemraj – Secretary

  • Shri Ratna Chand – Treasurer

Other passionate contributors include Shri Sohan Singh, Shri Nanak Chand, and Shri Bhupendra Bhupi, an internationally recognized athletics coach. Their collective involvement is giving the campaign a strong voice and credibility across the region. Notably, Shri Bhupendra Singh is also playing an active role in furthering the campaign’s objectives.

Adding further strength to the initiative is Dr. Ashwini Rathore, who is lending his time and expertise as an advisor. His support is seen as instrumental in crafting the campaign’s strategic direction and long-term vision.

This campaign is not merely about discouraging drug use—it is about reviving community values, empowering youth, and building a future where villages are safe, healthy, and progressive. Through unity, awareness, and consistent action, the Himachal Pradesh Gyan Vigyan Samiti is inspiring a new wave of social responsibility—one village at a time.
