Gopalpur Industrial Park (GIP) in Odisha’s Ganjam district has emerged as a major destination for green energy equipment and advanced manufacturing in eastern India, with a cumulative investment pipeline exceeding ₹65,400 crore, according to Tata Steel Special Economic Zone Ltd (TSSEZL).
Developed by TSSEZL, a wholly owned subsidiary of Tata Steel, the industrial park has attracted projects spanning green hydrogen, renewable energy equipment, speciality chemicals, tyres, mineral processing and food processing.
The growing investment pipeline is strengthening Gopalpur’s position as an industrial hub focused on emerging clean-energy technologies and low-carbon manufacturing.
Green Ammonia Project to Further Strengthen Clean Energy Ecosystem
One of the latest proposed investments at the industrial park is a green ammonia project being developed following the signing of a memorandum of cooperation between the Odisha government, Japan-based IHI Corporation, ACME Group and TSSEZL.
The proposed project envisages a green ammonia production facility with a capacity of 0.4 million tonnes per annum, along with a jetty-less floating terminal at Gopalpur Industrial Park.
The project is expected to further expand Odisha’s clean-energy ecosystem and add green ammonia production capabilities to the industrial park’s growing portfolio of renewable-energy and low-carbon manufacturing projects.
Tata Power Plans ₹10,000 Crore Solar Manufacturing Investment
The park is also set to receive a major investment from Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd.
TSSEZL and Tata Power Renewable Energy have executed a binding land transfer agreement for a proposed ₹10,000 crore investment at Gopalpur Industrial Park.
The proposed Tata Power project will focus on manufacturing solar ingots and wafers, adding another major component to India’s solar manufacturing value chain.
The project is expected to support India’s clean-energy ambitions while strengthening Gopalpur’s position as a manufacturing base for renewable-energy equipment.
The development is particularly significant as India continues to expand its domestic clean-energy manufacturing ecosystem and seek greater capacity across different stages of the solar supply chain.
Multiple Green Energy and Manufacturing Companies Establish Presence
Gopalpur Industrial Park has attracted companies operating across a range of clean-energy and industrial sectors.
Companies including Avaada GreenH2, Ocior Energy, Hygenco, Saatvik Solar Industries, World Green Energy, SRF Ltd, ATC Tires and Tata Steel have established or announced projects at the park.
The diversity of projects gives the industrial park exposure to multiple segments of the emerging green economy, ranging from hydrogen and solar manufacturing to chemicals, tyres and other industrial activities.
The combination of these sectors is expected to support the development of an integrated industrial ecosystem while creating opportunities for supporting businesses and services.
Infrastructure Supports Investor Interest
Spread across nearly 2,970 acres, Gopalpur Industrial Park offers land within both the Special Economic Zone (SEZ) and Domestic Tariff Area.
The park has been developed with key industrial infrastructure including internal roads, power and water supply, drainage systems, environmental clearances and multi-modal connectivity.
According to TSSEZL, infrastructure projects undertaken by the Odisha government to strengthen the supply of power and water to the industrial park have supported its development and helped create a more favourable environment for investors.
TSSEZL Managing Director Manikanta Naik said the company’s vision of developing Gopalpur into a globally competitive industrial destination was taking shape.
He also highlighted the company’s continued commitment to building world-class infrastructure and an investor-friendly ecosystem to support sustainable industrial growth.
Gopalpur Recognised as a Smart Industrial Park
The industrial park was recently recognised with the ‘Smart Industrial Park’ award by Maritime Gateway for its industrial infrastructure and innovation.
The award was presented during the Smart Logistics Summit & Awards 2026 in Bhubaneswar.
The recognition comes as Gopalpur expands its portfolio of industrial projects and strengthens its infrastructure to accommodate investments across clean energy and advanced manufacturing.
Employment and Low-Carbon Manufacturing Potential
The projects being developed or proposed at Gopalpur Industrial Park are expected to generate both direct and indirect employment opportunities.
The growing concentration of green-energy and advanced-manufacturing projects could also strengthen Odisha’s position as a destination for low-carbon industrial development.
With a proposed investment pipeline exceeding ₹65,400 crore, including the ₹10,000-crore Tata Power project and the proposed green ammonia facility, Gopalpur Industrial Park is increasingly positioning itself at the intersection of India’s renewable-energy transition and advanced industrial manufacturing.
The combination of dedicated industrial infrastructure, clean-energy projects and manufacturing investments could enable the park to play a larger role in developing India’s domestic supply chains for emerging energy technologies.
