Chennai, Jan 22 : In a significant initiative to promote road safety among young minds, Ford partnered with the TSL Foundation to host a series of engaging activities at the Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Educare, Fathima Nagar, Nemilichery, as part of India Road Safety Month celebrations. Designed to nurture safe road habits, the event aimed to prepare children to become responsible and informed road users.

The event was inaugurated by S. Jaikumar, District Mission Coordinator – Chennai, Department of Social Welfare and Women Welfare, Government of Tamil Nadu, and was attended by over 100 students and teachers from three schools—Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Educare, KV Meenambakkam, and Olive Public School—along with volunteers from Ford and the TSL Foundation.

Interactive Activities to Promote Road Safety
The celebration featured a variety of activities, including:
– Road Safety Quiz
– Poster-Making Competition
– Extempore Speech Contest
– Mock Road Simulation: Students from grades 6 and 7 practiced safe road behaviors in a controlled environment, enhancing their understanding of road safety practices.

Road Safety Pledge and Recognition
Students and volunteers signed a Road Safety Pledge Wall, committing to follow traffic rules, wear safety gear, and spread awareness within their communities. The event concluded with a prize distribution ceremony, acknowledging students’ creativity and dedication to road safety.

About the Road Ready Rangers Program
The Road Ready Rangers program, supported by Ford and implemented by the TSL Foundation, is designed for students in grades 1 to 9. It combines classroom lessons, simulator training, and interactive activities to teach road safety rules, emergency preparedness, and hazard recognition. Leadership initiatives like Junior Campus Traffic Champions empower students to advocate for road safety within their schools and communities.
