New Delhi : The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) held its ‘Daan Utsav 2024’ on October 3 and 4, featuring a variety of engaging activities that highlighted the importance of giving back to the community.
Originally known as the Joy of Giving Week, ‘Daan Utsav’ encourages philanthropy in its many forms, whether through donations or acts of service.
Children from the Bal Raksha Bharat NGO and Salaam Baalak Trust were treated to an enjoyable Metro ride, a puppet show, and an educational guided tour of the Metro Museum at Patel Chowk, according to a DMRC spokesperson.
The two-day event was filled with exciting activities, such as clown performances, games, and dance showcases by the children.
Dr. Shalini Singh, President of the DMRC Ladies Welfare Organisation, participated actively, engaging with the children and contributing to the festive atmosphere. Over 100 children took part in the celebrations.
Additionally, NGOs set up kiosks in residential areas and metro stations as part of the ‘Daan Utsav’ event, inviting the public to contribute through donations and other acts of kindness. Senior DMRC officials joined the festivities as well.
This initiative underscores DMRC’s commitment to spreading joy and giving back to the community, motivating others to offer their support in any way they can.
Each year, various NGOs, corporate entities, government organizations, and educational institutions collaborate to celebrate ‘Daan Utsav’, uniting diverse stakeholders to enhance societal well-being.
