New Delhi, August 6: Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) spending in Nagaland reached an all-time high of ₹26.79 crore during FY2024–25, marking a significant increase from ₹15.41 crore in the previous financial year, according to data tabled in the Lok Sabha by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs.
The figures, shared by Union Finance and Corporate Affairs Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, show a steady rise in CSR investments over the past five years, increasing from ₹3.57 crore in FY2020–21 to ₹12.46 crore in FY2021–22, ₹13.57 crore in FY2022–23, ₹15.41 crore in FY2023–24 and reaching a record ₹26.79 crore in FY2024–25.
According to the Ministry’s CSR portal, 44 companies implemented CSR projects across Nagaland during the financial year.
Healthcare remained the largest beneficiary, receiving ₹14.28 crore for projects related to healthcare, hunger eradication, nutrition, drinking water and sanitation. Education, livelihood development and programmes for persons with disabilities attracted ₹6.20 crore, while rural development initiatives received ₹4.79 crore. Environmental conservation accounted for ₹1.24 crore, followed by sports promotion and women empowerment initiatives.
Among districts, Mon received the highest CSR allocation of ₹6.56 crore, followed by Kohima with ₹5.51 crore and Dimapur with ₹5.17 crore. Together, these three districts accounted for nearly two-thirds of the state’s total CSR expenditure.
Indian Oil Corporation Ltd emerged as the largest CSR contributor with ₹4.89 crore, followed by HDFC Bank Ltd at ₹4.34 crore and Tata AIG General Insurance Company Ltd at ₹2.75 crore. Other major contributors included Bharat Forge, Greenply Industries, BPCL, Titan, NHPC and NTPC.
The Ministry noted that CSR spending in Nagaland has grown steadily since the pandemic and attributed part of the momentum to the Nagaland CSR Conclave 2022, which encouraged greater corporate participation in the state.
Despite recording its highest-ever CSR expenditure, Nagaland continues to account for a relatively small share of India’s overall CSR spending. National CSR expenditure rose to ₹40,794 crore in FY2024–25, while within the North-East, Nagaland ranked sixth, ahead of Tripura and Mizoram.
