New Delhi, Jan 26 : Jumde Yomgam Gamlin, a 59-year-old social worker from Arunachal Pradesh, has been conferred the prestigious Padma Shri in 2025 for her extraordinary contributions to social work. She has dedicated her life to combating drug addiction and alcoholism, bringing hope and transformation to countless individuals and families in her region.

A Lifelong Commitment to Social Upliftment

Jumde Gamlin is the chairperson of Mother’s Vision, a non-governmental organization (NGO) she founded in 2013 in Aalo, located in the West Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh. The NGO began as a small initiative to address the growing issue of substance abuse in the area but soon expanded its reach to neighboring villages and schools.

A major milestone in the NGO’s journey came in 2014 when Kennedy Bagra, a recovering addict, joined the team. His insights helped develop more effective campaigns, making Mother’s Vision a trusted name in addiction recovery and prevention.

Jumde Gamlin’s relentless efforts have helped treat more than 700 individuals battling addiction, offering them a chance to rebuild their lives.

– Awareness Campaigns and Workshops: 
The organization conducts regular awareness drives, workshops, and counseling sessions aimed at educating communities about the dangers of substance abuse. These initiatives have significantly reduced stigma and encouraged more individuals to seek help.

School and Community Outreach:
Mother’s Vision has reached out to schools and rural communities, focusing on prevention through education and support systems.
