Over 1.55 lakh applicants register for PM Internship schemesOver 1.55 lakh applicants register for PM Internship schemes

New Delhi, Jan 24 : The Prime Minister’s Internship Scheme is poised for expansion, with key changes expected to be announced in the Union Budget 2025. Currently, only the top 500 companies are eligible to participate in the scheme. However, according to highly placed sources, the eligibility criteria are likely to be revised to include a larger pool of companies, enabling more youth to benefit from skill development opportunities.

The proposed changes aim to widen the scheme’s impact by encouraging greater participation from industries beyond the top-tier companies. This would provide young professionals with broader exposure to diverse sectors and equip them with the skills needed for today’s dynamic job market.

The government’s move aligns with its vision to enhance employability and bridge the skill gap among India’s youth. By involving more companies, the scheme is expected to become a significant platform for fostering talent and creating a robust workforce for the future.

Further details regarding the revised framework and its implementation are expected to be revealed during the Union Budget 2025 presentation.
