New Delhi, February 3 : In the Union Budget 2025, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman introduced the Prime Minister Dhandhany Krushi Yojna, a transformative initiative aimed at boosting agricultural development. Modeled after the success of the Aspirational District Programme, this scheme will collaborate with state governments to launch an agricultural district programme targeting 100 districts with low productivity, moderate crop intensity, and below-average credit access.
The initiative focuses on enhancing agricultural outcomes through key measures such as crop diversification, adoption of sustainable farming techniques, improved post-harvest storage at Panchayat and block levels, enhanced irrigation facilities, and greater access to long-term and short-term credit. Expected to impact 1.7 crore farmers, the program aims to drive sustainable agricultural growth and uplift underserved farming communities.
