Mumbai, Feb 27 : Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal emphasized the importance of businesses contributing to inclusive development through enhanced Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives. Speaking at the ‘Bharat Calling Conference 2025,’ organized by the IMC Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Mumbai, Goyal stressed that sustainable and equitable growth is essential for national progress.
He highlighted the government’s targeted efforts to improve ease of living, enhance infrastructure, and uplift various communities. Recognizing sustainability as a key challenge, he urged businesses to focus on energy efficiency and environmental responsibility while driving economic growth.

Addressing industry leaders, Goyal pointed out India’s vast potential as a nation of 1.4 billion aspirational individuals. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to manufacturing, skill development, and innovation, positioning India as a leading global investment destination.

Goyal emphasized that these programs are shaping India’s economic transformation during the ‘Amrit Kaal’—the two decades leading up to 2047 when India aims to become a developed nation.

Goyal outlined five essential factors that businesses should prioritize to support India’s long-term development:
1. Quality Management & Small Business Support – Encouraging larger companies to assist smaller enterprises in improving quality standards and manufacturing practices.

3. Inclusive Growth – Ensuring equal opportunities across different social and economic segments.
4. Skill Development – Strengthening workforce capabilities through training and education.

He emphasized that India is undergoing a quality revolution, urging businesses to adopt global standards, enhance production quality, and implement good manufacturing practices. With around 700 quality control orders in place, Goyal encouraged business chambers like IMC to actively advocate for quality improvements.
