New Delhi, March 6 : As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, NLC India Limited (NLCIL) has been distributing artificial limbs and assistive devices to individuals with disabilities (Divyangjans) in Cuddalore District in collaboration with the Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO).
To strengthen its commitment to community development, NLCIL signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with ALIMCO on 06.09.2024, aligning with Prime Minister Hon’ble Shri Narendra Modi’s vision of Viksit Bharat. The project, valued at ₹1.08 crore, aims to support differently abled individuals in Tamil Nadu’s Cuddalore district.
ALIMCO, a Mini Ratna CPSE under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, specializes in manufacturing aids and appliances for people with disabilities. In accordance with its MoU with NLCIL, ALIMCO conducted assessment camps in December 2024 at Kurinjipadi and Veppankurichi areas, identifying 390 beneficiaries in need of support.
In the first phase, on 01.02.2025, NLCIL distributed artificial limbs and assistive devices to beneficiaries in Cuddalore District through ALIMCO.
Continuing these efforts, the second phase of distribution took place on 04.03.2025 at Vallalar Higher Secondary School, Vadalur, where 71 differently abled individuals received assistive devices and artificial limbs under NLCIL’s CSR program.
Shri. Samir Swarup, Director (HR), NLCIL, personally distributed mobility aids such as walkers, battery-operated motorized tricycles, hand-propelled tricycles, folding wheelchairs, and other assistive devices. The event was attended by Shri. DVS Narayana Murthy, Executive Director (Legal, CSR & NLC India Hospital), Dr. Sukumar, CGS (Medical), Shri D. Dhanapal, CGM (Finance), Shri G. Srinivasa Babu, GM (CSR), as well as officials from the CSR department and ALIMCO.
Through this initiative, NLCIL reaffirms its dedication to social welfare, ensuring enhanced mobility and independence for individuals with disabilities.
