Boston, February 17 : Nita Ambani, Founder and Chairperson of Reliance Foundation, delivered the keynote address at the Harvard India Conference on Indian Business, Policy & Culture. During her speech, she emphasized that India’s strength lies in its vibrant youth population and expansive diaspora. She also identified the widespread adoption of technologies like artificial intelligence, green energy, and genomics as significant growth opportunities for the nation.
Reflecting on India’s current landscape, Ambani provided a SWOT (Strength, Weakness, Opportunity, Threat) analysis, stating, “Our strength is our youth—50% of our population is under 30—and our global diaspora, which contributes significantly to India’s influence worldwide.”
Addressing India’s challenges, she pointed out the need to uplift the 200 to 300 million people at the bottom of the socio-economic pyramid. “Our priority must be to improve their lives, and I believe we can achieve this within the next decade,” she said.
Ambani highlighted technology adoption as India’s greatest opportunity, noting, *“Whether it’s AI, green energy, or genomics, India has the potential to leverage these technologies at scale.”
On potential threats, she stressed the importance of global peace, stating, “As a mother, I believe that peace is essential for progress. Wars bring no good, and this holds true for India as well.”
During her address, Ambani shared a personal story about financial challenges early in her marriage. She recounted purchasing a gold chain but returning it after her husband, Mukesh Ambani, explained the financial difficulties Reliance was facing at the time. “He told me that paying our employees was more important. I returned the chain without hesitation, trusting that better days would come—and they did,” she shared.
