Mumbai, Feb 7 : In a groundbreaking move, Godrej Industries Group (GIG),Radhika Piramal (Executive Director, VIP Industries & Trustee, Dasra UK), and the Keshav Suri Foundation have joined forces with Dasra to introduce The Pride Fund—India’s first dedicated LGBTQIA+ philanthropy fund.

Aimed at closing the funding gap and fostering long-term, structured, and impactful philanthropy, The Pride Fund seeks to empower and drive meaningful change for India’s LGBTQIA+ community, which is estimated to comprise over 140 million people. The initiative is anchored by Dasra and the Godrej DEI Lab, an experimental platform dedicated to creating an inclusive ecosystem within and beyond GIG.

Addressing the Queer Philanthropy Gap in India

Currently, only one of India’s top 50 donors explicitly supports LGBTQIA+ organizations, and CSR contributions remain minimal. Despite a rise in global LGBTQIA+ funding, India has largely been excluded from these philanthropic efforts.

Yet, despite these structural challenges and social prejudices, grassroots activists and community organizers continue to lead pioneering efforts for LGBTQIA+ rights. Non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and civil society groups—born out of these movements—work tirelessly to improve access to healthcare, livelihoods, justice, and dignity for LGBTQIA+ individuals.

The Pride Fund’s Vision

Through grants and financial support, The Pride Fund aims to strengthen these organizations, ensuring they can continue their vital work. By fostering sustained support and advocacy, the initiative strives to create a more inclusive and equitable future for LGBTQIA+ individuals across India.
