Bengaluru, March 2 : Biocon Foundation, the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) arm of Biocon Group, marked 20 years of dedicated service to social impact and community development. To commemorate this milestone, the Foundation hosted a special ceremony at Biocon Park, celebrating ‘20 Years of LIGHT – Leading Inclusive Growth of Communities with a Human Touch.’

Since its establishment in 2004, the Foundation has been instrumental in driving positive change in healthcare, education, environmental sustainability, rural development, and infrastructure, impacting 2.8 million lives across India. As part of the celebrations, the Foundation unveiled its 20th annual report and screened a documentary showcasing its journey over the past two decades. Additionally, key stakeholders and team members who played a role in this transformative journey were honored.

Bengaluru Rural MP Dr. Manjunath commended the Foundation’s efforts under the leadership of Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw, stating, “While Biocon excels in research and innovation, its unwavering commitment to societal well-being—spanning healthcare, education, infrastructure, and environmental sustainability—is truly remarkable.”

Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw, Chairperson of Biocon Group and Managing Trustee of Biocon Foundation, emphasized the Foundation’s mission, saying, “For two decades, we have been dedicated to empowering underserved communities through innovative healthcare solutions, education, and sustainable development. Our eLAJ Smart Clinics have transformed primary healthcare, benefiting over a million people across Karnataka. As we celebrate this milestone, our commitment to driving social change and ensuring equitable healthcare access remains strong.”

Among the Foundation’s key initiatives are the Arogya Raksha Yojana (ARY), a pioneering microinsurance program providing affordable healthcare to low-income families, and the Oral Cancer Screening initiative using Mobile Phone (mHealth), which facilitates early detection in high-risk communities through mobile technology.
