Mumbai, Jan 23 : Coldplay’s lead singer, Chris Martin, attended a private event celebrating the fifth anniversary of the Sachin Tendulkar Foundation (STF) in Mumbai on Wednesday. The event, held at the Bombay Club, marked five years of the Foundation’s work in health, education, and sports for underprivileged communities.
Sachin Tendulkar, who recently attended Coldplay’s Mumbai concert, was joined by his wife Anjali Tendulkar, daughter Sara Tendulkar, and Chris Martin at the intimate gathering. Chris congratulated Sachin on the Foundation’s achievements, commending its commitment to empowering lives through strategic initiatives focused on children. He sported an elegant all-black outfit with white sneakers and engaged in a personal conversation with the cricket legend.
Themed “Shine Brighter Together,” the evening highlighted STF’s core mission to create meaningful change, particularly for children, through collaborative efforts in education, healthcare, and sports.
For Sara Tendulkar, recently appointed as the Foundation’s Director, the celebration marked her first official engagement. Reflecting on her family’s legacy and the Foundation’s impact, she said:
“Growing up, I was inspired by my family’s commitment to giving back. Witnessing the Foundation’s work and the hope it brings to children and families has been life-changing. Over the last five years, STF has touched over 100,000 young lives, and I am grateful for everyone who has supported this journey. As Director, I am excited to build on my parents’ vision and create even more opportunities for children, who are the future.”
A short film screened during the event showcased STF’s initiatives and partnerships with over 15 NGOs. The Foundation’s collaborative efforts were celebrated by attendees, who applauded its contributions to marginalized communities.
Sachin Tendulkar reflected on the journey:
“When I retired from cricket, I knew my innings wasn’t over. Anjali and I envisioned a platform to help the less privileged and nurture young dreamers. STF was born out of this vision, and over the last five years, we’ve made significant strides. With Sara leading the way, I’m confident that STF will continue transforming dreams into reality. Our goal is to expand sports-for-development programs, enhance healthcare access, and introduce innovative education initiatives. The next decade promises to be one of empowering millions of children and fulfilling countless dreams.”*
Established in 2019 by Sachin and Anjali Tendulkar, the STF connects individuals, institutions, and resources to drive social change. Its mission is to provide equal opportunities to children, address underfunded causes, and create sustainable growth opportunities. Guided by a vision to uplift underserved communities, STF remains dedicated to making a lasting impact on health, education, and sports for development.
