New Delhi, March 27: Casio India Co. Pvt. Ltd., a prominent consumer electronics brand, has launched a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative called “Recycle Responsibly” in Delhi NCR. This campaign is designed to address the mounting e-waste challenge by raising awareness and providing accessible recycling solutions across Delhi, Gurugram, Noida, Ghaziabad, Faridabad, and Greater Noida.
As the world’s third-largest producer of e-waste, India generates over 3.2 million metric tonnes annually, much of which is informally processed, leading to severe environmental and health risks. The “Recycle Responsibly” campaign aims to bridge this gap by deploying seven mobile e-waste collection vans. These specialized vehicles will travel through residential areas, markets, offices, and educational institutions over a 14-day period, from March 25 to April 7, 2025, ensuring responsible disposal of electronic waste.
At the launch event, Akira Watanabe, Director of Casio India, highlighted the company’s dedication to sustainability:
“As a responsible corporate citizen, our goal is to educate, engage, and empower communities to combat e-waste. This initiative goes beyond collection—it’s about fostering a culture of responsible recycling.”
Aligned with India’s E-Waste Management Rules (2016, amended) and the ‘LiFE – Lifestyle for Environment’ movement, this initiative supports Casio’s global commitment to sustainability by focusing on product lifecycle responsibility and eco-friendly innovation.
Casio India has partnered with SHEOWS, a social welfare NGO, and Allied Waste Solutions Pvt. Ltd. (AWS), a sustainable waste management company. AWS will manage the collection vans, drive community participation, and ensure proper recycling through authorized facilities.
Nitesh Tiwari, Director at AWS, expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration:
“We are proud to join hands with Casio India and SHEOWS on this important initiative. Every recycled electronic device contributes to environmental protection, and collective action can create a lasting impact.”
The campaign also aims to integrate informal e-waste handlers, such as kabadiwallas, into the formal recycling system through training and structured partnerships.
Public Participation & How to Get Involved
Citizens can track mobile collection vans, attend awareness sessions, or schedule an e-waste pick-up by calling +91-120-699-3119. The initiative accepts various electronic waste items, including mobile phones, laptops, chargers, calculators, and other electronic devices, regardless of brand.
Additionally, awareness programs will be conducted in Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs) and commercial hubs to educate the public on the hazards of improper e-waste disposal and encourage eco-friendly habits. Participants will receive recognition and tokens of appreciation for their contributions.
Beyond this campaign, Casio India remains committed to sustainability through eco-friendly packaging, energy-efficient manufacturing, and consumer awareness programs. By launching “Recycle Responsibly,” the company aspires to encourage individuals, businesses, and institutions to adopt systematic e-waste disposal practices and foster a long-term culture of environmental responsibility.
