Dubai, March 11 : The Endowments and Minors’ Trust Foundation in Dubai (AWQAF Dubai) has partnered with the Al Jalila Foundation, the charitable arm of the Dubai Health Authority (DHA), to develop a sustainable endowment facility dedicated to supporting cancer treatment at the Hamdan Bin Rashid Cancer Hospital. The project’s total cost is estimated at over AED 38.5 million.

This collaboration aligns with the humanitarian initiatives launched by Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, particularly during Ramadan.

As per the agreement, AWQAF Dubai will construct a seven-storey endowment building in the Dubai South area on land owned by Al Jalila Foundation, valued at AED 8.5 million. The Foundation will finance the construction costs, estimated at AED 30 million, with completion expected within 16 months.

Both the building and the land will be maintained as a perpetual endowment under AWQAF Dubai’s supervision. The project’s revenue will be fully directed toward supporting cancer treatment at the Hamdan Bin Rashid Cancer Hospital.

Ali Al Mutawa, Secretary-General of AWQAF Dubai, emphasized that the partnership reflects AWQAF’s commitment to enhancing healthcare and easing the financial burden on cancer patients and their families. He affirmed that AWQAF Dubai would oversee the project’s construction and ensure its timely completion. Additionally, AWQAF Dubai will manage the property’s investment to maximize the benefits for patients in need.

“Our endowment projects aim to contribute to a healthier and more sustainable society, reinforcing our commitment to improving the quality of life through developmental endowments,” said Al Mutawa.

Raja Eisa Al Gurg, Member of the Board of Directors at DHA and Chairperson of Al Jalila Foundation, expressed gratitude to AWQAF Dubai for supporting this impactful initiative.

“This sustainable endowment will provide long-term financial backing to the Hamdan Bin Rashid Cancer Hospital, ensuring patients receive specialized care. As Dubai’s first comprehensive cancer hospital, it plays a crucial role in advancing cancer treatment,” she stated.

She further highlighted that this partnership underscores Al Jalila Foundation’s dedication to its humanitarian mission of strengthening the healthcare sector. The sustainable endowment marks a significant step toward improving cancer care and supporting patients in need.
