Punjab : Ambuja Cements, part of the diversified Adani portfolio, has launched Health & Nutrition Information Centres (HNICs) in two villages in Punjab as part of its CSR initiatives. These centers act as vital hubs, addressing various health issues, including non-communicable diseases like diabetes and hypertension, as well as child health, nutrition, and adolescent wellness.
As a key component of Ambuja’s CSR efforts, the HNICs serve as community focal points for health education, support, and engagement. They bring together community members, health workers, educators, and volunteers for educational sessions, counseling, and outreach activities. Equipped with resources such as health libraries and sports equipment, the centers promote healthy lifestyles through awareness campaigns and ongoing follow-up by healthcare professionals.
The HNICs cater to a wide range of individuals, with a particular focus on empowering women to take charge of their health. Veerpal Kaur, 44, finds the center to be a welcoming space for women to discuss health concerns, stating, “It’s so easy and comfortable for women like me to come to the center. It’s right in our village, and the atmosphere is inviting. Talking to other women here makes sharing our health concerns easier.”
Kirandeep Kaur, 34, attributes her newfound motivation for healthier living to the center. She shared, “Their advice is inspiring. I’ve started eating more vegetables and even began a kitchen garden at home. I also make it a point to walk for at least 30 minutes every day now.” The center fosters a supportive environment that enables individuals to access vital information, participate in healthy activities, and enhance their overall well-being.
Through these Health & Nutrition Information Centres, Ambuja Cements is not only providing essential health services and educational resources in rural Punjab but is also empowering individuals at the grassroots level for a healthier future.
