New Delhi, Dec 3, : On the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, the Adani Foundation, in partnership with the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of Gujarat, unveiled a transformative initiative to empower over 7,000 specially-abled individuals (Divyangs) across the state. The announcement was made at Gujarat National Law University on Tuesday.
Jeet Adani, Director of Airports, addressed the gathering, expressing the Adani Group’s steadfast commitment to enhancing the lives of specially-abled individuals.
“Standing here today, I am profoundly inspired by the courage and resilience of you, our Divyang brothers and sisters. Your strength redefines the meaning of life. On behalf of the Adani Group, I assure you that our dedication to your progress and empowerment is unwavering,” he said.
He further noted, “Over the past decade, the Adani Foundation has significantly improved the quality of life for Divyang individuals through skill development, education, livelihood opportunities, and the provision of essential tools and aids. Our work will continue, particularly in the Kutch region, including Mundra, Khawda, and Lakhpat talukas.”
Under its Swavlamban initiative, launched in 2014, the Adani Foundation has taken impactful steps to uplift specially-abled individuals, providing them with tools, resources, and opportunities for dignified living.
The expanded collaboration with the Gujarat Government aims to reach 7,055 Divyang individuals by offering skill training, education support, job placements, entrepreneurship opportunities, and essential aids.
A notable milestone under the initiative was the *Divyang Employment Fair 2023, held at the Adani Field Office in Mundra. The event brought together over 250 participants and 22 companies, resulting in 111 job placements and support for five individuals to become self-employed. To date, the Swavlamban project has positively impacted 2,000 specially-abled individuals, according to a statement by the Adani Foundation.
Through this initiative, the Adani Foundation reaffirms its commitment to fostering inclusivity and empowering the Divyang community.
