Kerala : A true hero isn’t defined by what we see in movies; rather, it’s someone who creates real change in the world. At 70 years old, Shriman Narayan from Ernakulam, Kerala, exemplifies this spirit. He dedicated 6 lakh rupees of his savings to provide water for birds, showcasing an inspiring commitment to his community.
A Lifesaving Initiative
In 2018, Narayan took it upon himself to tackle the challenges faced by birds during the sweltering summer months. With determination, he began purchasing clay pots from his savings to distribute to local residents. He named this initiative “Jeev Jalathiyu Manpatram,” meaning “vessel that saves life.” Personally distributing over 10,000 clay pots, Narayan received recognition from the Kochi Municipal Corporation for his impactful efforts, which motivated him to expand his work even further.
Now living a retired life, Narayan operates a small restaurant in his village and pledges to use his earnings to benefit the environment. He has distributed 50,000 fruit saplings, investing 15 lakh rupees into this cause. Additionally, he has taken the initiative to personally plant mango and jackfruit trees in the Muppatam area.
