New Delhi, Aprail 12: In a major boost to Delhi’s public healthcare system, the Adharshila Trust, in collaboration with the Adani Group’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative and Lady Hardinge Medical College (LHMC), has expanded the Adharshila Renal Care Project at Smt. Sucheta Kriplani Hospital. As part of the initiative, five new dialysis machines—sponsored by the Adani Group—have been installed, along with a year of operational support. This marks a significant move towards improving access to affordable and quality renal care for underserved communities facing the burden of chronic kidney diseases.
Shishir Priyadarshi, President of Global Relations at Adani Group, emphasized the importance of accessible dialysis, highlighting how costly and lifelong the treatment can be. He noted Gautam Adani’s deep personal commitment to social impact, adding that the group sees “growth with goodness” as a guiding principle. Neena Jolly, Trustee of the Adharshila Trust, said the project, launched in 2004, has been instrumental in addressing the dialysis gap in Delhi NCR. She projected that this latest expansion could help facilitate nearly 20,000 additional dialysis sessions annually, out of the estimated 4.5 lakh required in the region.
Medical leaders at LHMC welcomed the support, with Prof. (Dr.) Anupam Prakash highlighting that the number of dialysis machines has now risen from just 2 to 22, enabling vastly improved patient care. The hospital has also begun free screening for early signs of kidney disease as part of the project, supported by trained technicians and infrastructure like an RO plant. Prof. (Dr.) Sarita Beri, Director of LHMC, praised the initiative as a much-needed intervention, noting that bridging critical resource gaps will enable the hospital to double or even triple dialysis sessions per machine per day. She expressed hope that the collaboration could pave the way for further health partnerships in the future.
