Sonbhadra, Feb 8 : Coal India Limited has been recognized with the prestigious Golden Peacock CSR Award 2024 for its remarkable contributions to corporate social responsibility. The award was received by Coal India Chairman P.M. Prasad and Director (Personnel) Vinay Ranjan at the 19th International Conference in Mumbai.
₹572 Crore Invested in CSR Programs
As a Maharatna company, Coal India has significantly impacted the lives of over 3.5 crore people through its CSR initiatives. Holding the distinction of being the top CSR spender in the public sector for five consecutive years, the company invested ₹572 crore in social welfare projects during the last financial year.
Key Areas of CSR Initiatives
Coal India channels more than 70% of its CSR budget into healthcare, nutrition, sanitation, education, and livelihood enhancement programs. Additionally, the company has played a vital role in various national missions, including:
– Building over 50,000 toilets as part of the Swachh Vidyalaya Abhiyan
– Investing ₹850 crore in aspirational districts
– Contributing ₹700 crore to COVID-19 relief efforts
