Mumbai (Maharashtra) : In celebration of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 74th birthday during Sewa Pakhwada (service fortnight), a Mega Multispecialty Health Camp was held at Public School in Shivaji Nagar (Govandi). Organized by the Indian Minorities Foundation (IMF) in collaboration with various Muslim community organizations in Maharashtra, the event aimed to provide essential health services to minority and underprivileged communities, aligning with the Modi government’s commitment to ensuring quality healthcare for all citizens.

The health camp saw participation from men, women, and children across diverse backgrounds, along with religious leaders from the Muslim community. Notable attendees included Satnam Singh Sandhu, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha), Chancellor of Chandigarh University, and Convener of IMF. Volunteers from various educational institutions, including Chandigarh University, played an active role in assisting beneficiaries throughout the event.

The camp featured over 200 esteemed doctors specializing in 16 medical fields, including Gynecology, Oncology, and Pediatrics, supported by 300 paramedical staff and volunteers. More than 3,500 beneficiaries, primarily from Mumbai’s slum areas, received free screenings, treatments, and consultations. Many beneficiaries, who received free medical services, medicines, health kits, and medical tests, belonged to economically disadvantaged sections of society.

Additionally, over 2,000 sanitary pads and more than 500 pairs of spectacles were distributed to women and individuals with vision impairments. Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Cards were also issued to help people access services at empanelled hospitals nationwide. Prosthetic arms and legs were fitted for beneficiaries in need during the camp.

Doctors at the health camp expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Modi for improving accessibility to affordable, quality healthcare over the past decade. They noted that his mantra of “Health for All” has ensured that quality medical services reach even remote rural areas. Many attendees remarked that no previous Prime Minister had prioritized healthcare as much as Modi. Women from the Muslim community highlighted his government’s focus on menstrual hygiene and accessibility to affordable sanitary products.

Healthcare experts emphasized the significant growth of healthcare infrastructure under Modi’s leadership, with the number of AIIMS and medical colleges doubling and MBBS and PG seats increasing by about 125 percent. Satnam Singh Sandhu remarked that the healthcare system in India has undergone a remarkable transformation in the last decade, linking health to national development.

The Ayushman Bharat scheme, according to Faisal Banaraswala, founder of the Sufi Islamic Board, has equally benefited all communities. He urged people to recognize the significance of this initiative while praising IMF for organizing the extensive health camp.

Mansoor Khan, National President of the Sufi Islamic Board, commended the IMF’s initiative as part of Sewa Pakhwada, emphasizing the inclusive nature of Modi’s health policies, which empower everyone, regardless of religion or caste.

Healthcare professionals noted a substantial decrease in fungal infections and menstrual issues due to reduced sanitary pad prices, while the increase in medical education opportunities has allowed more youth to pursue careers in healthcare domestically. Dr. Krutika, a pediatrician, and Dr. Mehak Tara from Lokmanya Tilak College of Physiotherapy affirmed the positive changes in the healthcare landscape, attributing these developments to Modi’s initiatives.

Sonam Gupta, a participant from Uttar Pradesh, echoed the sentiment that Modi’s focus on quality medical services has reached even the most remote areas. Sara Sheikh, a physiotherapy student, pointed out the increasing accessibility of medical services across the country, which was previously lacking in many regions.

The Indian Minorities Foundation (IMF), established by Satnam Singh Sandhu, is dedicated to fostering a sense of national pride and inclusion among minority groups while empowering individuals and communities.
