Mumbai, Jan 30 : A special screening of the iconic film Deewaar, starring Amitabh Bachchan and Shashi Kapoor, will be held to mark its 50th anniversary. The screening, set for February 1, 2025, at 6:00 PM, will take place at Regal Cinema in Mumbai. The Film Heritage Foundation made the announcement on Instagram, sharing a poster of the film. The screening is free and open to the public, with seating available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Deewaar, directed by Yash Chopra and written by the famous screenwriting duo Salim-Javed, was a major hit upon its release on January 24, 1975. It cemented Amitabh Bachchan’s status as Bollywood’s Angry Young Man and remains one of the most influential films in Indian cinema.
The film, which also stars Nirupa Roy, Parveen Babi, and Neetu Singh, tells the story of two brothers who choose opposite paths—one as a respected police officer and the other as a feared criminal. *Deewaar* is especially remembered for its iconic scenes, including Shashi Kapoor’s memorable line, “Mere paas maa hai.”
