Bhubaneswar, Jan 11 : Chairman and Co-founder of Global Schools Foundation (Singapore), Atul Temurnikar, has been awarded the esteemed Pravasi Bhartiya Samman Award (PBSA) 2025 by the President of India, Droupadi Murmu. The award was presented during the 18th Pravasi Bhartiya Divas (PBD) Convention held from January 8-10 in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. The event, themed “Diaspora’s Contribution to a Viksit Bharat,” was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and jointly hosted by the Ministry of External Affairs and the Odisha government.

Temurnikar’s recognition stems from his groundbreaking contributions to advancing education in Southeast and East Asia, promoting CBSE education in countries such as Singapore, Malaysia, and Japan. His visionary leadership has provided world-class learning opportunities to over 45,000 students across 11 countries, fostering educational excellence and strengthening India’s cultural ties globally.

Beyond educational advancements, Temurnikar has played a key role in enhancing India’s diplomatic relationships, particularly in Japan and South Korea, where Global Schools Foundation (GSF) campuses have flourished. His initiatives have also extended to tribal education projects in India through collaborations with the Gujarat government.

Expressing gratitude for the accolade, Temurnikar remarked, “This prestigious award inspires us to further our mission of fostering quality education and strengthening cultural bonds with the diaspora worldwide.”

Since its inception in 2002, GSF has grown into a leading international education network, operating 12 international schools across 64 campuses in 11 countries. Through its cultural wing, Global Indian Foundation (GIF), Temurnikar has actively promoted Indian heritage, creating platforms for students to experience Indian traditions and values.

The Pravasi Bhartiya Samman Award, India’s highest honor for overseas Indians, acknowledges individuals and organizations for their outstanding contributions in diverse fields. A total of 27 distinguished personalities were honored at the convention, which takes place biennially. The awards jury, led by the Vice President of India, included prominent officials such as the External Affairs Minister.

Temurnikar’s pioneering efforts continue to bridge cultural and educational gaps, strengthening India’s global presence and its connection with the diaspora community.
