TP Northern Odisha Distribution Limited (TPNODL) has been recognised with the Best CSR Project Award by UBS Forums, Pune, for its Integrated Development Programme aimed at strengthening community resilience among families affected by the devastating March 2025 hailstorm in Bisoi Block of Mayurbhanj district, Odisha.
The award recognises TPNODL’s comprehensive response across livelihoods, healthcare, nutrition and education, with the programme directly benefiting more than 700 individuals and households across Pundida, Kesargadia and Saraspada. The affected communities had faced significant losses to crops, livestock and sources of income following the hailstorm.
Rather than focusing only on immediate relief, TPNODL adopted a longer-term development approach designed to help vulnerable families rebuild their livelihoods and become more resilient. Under the livelihood component, households received agricultural input kits containing millet and vegetable seeds, compost and bio-fertilisers, along with mushroom spawn, poultry and goat units. Veterinary support was also provided to help beneficiaries sustain livestock-based livelihoods.
The programme additionally included residential training on sustainable farming practices, helping community members strengthen their agricultural knowledge and improve the viability of their livelihood activities.
Healthcare and nutrition formed another major component of the initiative. Mobile Health Units provided health-related support, hygiene kits and awareness sessions, including focused awareness activities for adolescent girls. Specialised nutrition kits were distributed to children below six years of age, pregnant women and lactating mothers, addressing nutritional vulnerabilities among some of the most at-risk members of the community.
Education was also integrated into the programme through the establishment of three Community Learning Centres within government school premises. These centres were designed to strengthen foundational literacy and numeracy among children and support improved learning outcomes in the affected communities.
The recognition was presented at an event in Pune on August 25, 2026, where Ranjan Sharma, Head – CSR, and Rajesh Ranjan Ghadai, Executive Engineer – Udala Electrical Division, received the award on behalf of TPNODL.
Commenting on the recognition, Dushyant Kumar Tyagi, Chief Executive Officer – TPNODL, said the award reinforces the organisation’s commitment to community resilience and purpose-led CSR. He emphasised TPNODL’s continued focus on empowering vulnerable communities and promoting sustainable and inclusive development across Northern Odisha.
The award also highlights TPNODL’s wider CSR ecosystem. The company operates six Vocational Training Centres, which collectively upskill nearly 1,000 youth and women every year through market-oriented training. Its 15 Women Literacy Centres have supported more than 600 women through functional and digital literacy initiatives.
TPNODL’s CSR efforts further extend to healthcare through Mobile Medical Van services and free health camps in underserved communities, while Self-Help Groups and livelihood enhancement programmes provide additional avenues for economic empowerment.
The Integrated Development Programme demonstrates how corporate CSR interventions can move beyond short-term disaster relief by combining livelihood recovery, healthcare, nutrition and education into a coordinated model. By addressing multiple dimensions of vulnerability, the initiative seeks to help affected families rebuild their economic security while strengthening the long-term resilience of communities in Northern Odisha.
