Renewable energy company Juniper Green Energy has received a Letter of Award (LOA) from the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) for a 230 MW Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy Round-the-Clock (FDRE-RTC) power project.
The company disclosed the award in a stock exchange filing, stating that the LOA was dated August 14, 2026.
The project will be connected to India’s Inter-State Transmission System (ISTS) and will involve the development, construction, commissioning and operation of the renewable energy facility.
230 MW FDRE-RTC Project to Be Developed in India
Under the award, Juniper Green Energy will establish a 230 MW contracted-capacity FDRE-RTC project.
Unlike conventional renewable power projects that depend heavily on weather conditions and generate electricity primarily when solar or wind resources are available, FDRE projects are designed to provide firm and dispatchable renewable electricity according to contracted power requirements.
The project will therefore contribute to supplying more reliable renewable power to the grid.
Project to Be Completed Within 24 Months
Juniper Green Energy will be required to execute the project within 24 months from the effective date of the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA).
The company and SECI will enter into a 25-year PPA, with the agreement period beginning from the project’s commercial operation date.
The long-term PPA will provide a structured framework for the supply of renewable electricity generated by the project.
Tariff Fixed at ₹5.26 Per Unit
The project has a contracted capacity of 230 MW, with the awarded tariff set at ₹5.26 per unit.
The award has been issued by SECI, a domestic entity, for the development of the FDRE-RTC project in India.
The long-term arrangement is expected to provide Juniper Green Energy with visibility over the sale of electricity generated from the project once it becomes operational.
No Related-Party Interest
Juniper Green Energy clarified that the project does not involve any interest from the company’s promoter or promoter group in SECI.
The company also confirmed that the transaction does not constitute a related-party transaction.
FDRE Projects Gain Importance in India’s Clean Energy Transition
The award comes as India increasingly focuses on renewable energy projects capable of delivering electricity beyond periods of sunshine or strong wind.
FDRE projects can combine renewable generation technologies with solutions such as energy storage to make clean electricity available when required.
Such projects are particularly important as India’s share of solar and wind generation continues to rise and the power system requires greater flexibility and reliability.
For Juniper Green Energy, the 230 MW SECI award further strengthens its project pipeline and expands its participation in India’s emerging firm and dispatchable renewable energy market.
The project also supports India’s broader objective of integrating larger volumes of renewable power into the national grid while maintaining reliable electricity supply.
