Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has expanded its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives in Uttarakhand, completing a series of community development projects focused on education, healthcare, livelihoods and overall community welfare. The programmes have been launched in partnership with the Government of Uttarakhand under a long-term Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) covering Khatima in Udham Singh Nagar district and Haldwani in Nainital district.
The CSR initiative, which began during the 2025–26 financial year, is expected to positively impact more than four lakh people across the two districts through sustainable development projects aimed at improving quality of life and strengthening local communities.
Education has emerged as a key focus area of Toyota’s intervention. The company has upgraded infrastructure in several government schools and anganwadi centres across Udham Singh Nagar and Nainital districts, benefiting over 13,500 students. The improvements are designed to create safer, more inclusive and engaging learning environments while enhancing the overall quality of education.
The upgrades include the provision of child-friendly learning materials, new classroom furniture, improved kitchen facilities to support the hygienic preparation of mid-day meals and enhanced sports infrastructure. According to the company, the improved sports facilities are encouraging greater student participation in physical activities while also helping young athletes prepare for district and state-level competitions.
Toyota said the education programme is guided by its global “Child to Community” philosophy, which focuses on strengthening school ecosystems through better infrastructure, improved learning environments and stronger community participation. The initiative seeks to promote holistic student development while supporting better educational outcomes in government schools.
Beyond education, the broader CSR programme also focuses on healthcare, livelihood generation and community welfare, reinforcing Toyota Kirloskar Motor’s commitment to sustainable and inclusive development in rural and semi-urban regions.
The company stated that its long-term collaboration with the Uttarakhand government aims to create lasting social impact by addressing critical developmental needs while empowering local communities through education, improved public infrastructure and livelihood opportunities.
