BYD India Private Limited has expanded its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives in Tamil Nadu, implementing projects focused on education, healthcare and environmental sustainability in partnership with FEEED NGO. The initiatives are aimed at improving community infrastructure, enhancing public services and promoting long-term sustainable development.
One of the flagship projects under the programme is the School Infrastructure Development Project at the Government Panchayat Union Primary School in Keevalur Village. Through upgraded classrooms, improved facilities and modern learning resources, the initiative is expected to benefit around 200 students, creating a more engaging and supportive learning environment while improving overall educational outcomes.
In the healthcare sector, BYD India has strengthened medical infrastructure at the Uthiramerur Government Hospital by supporting the installation of advanced medical equipment. The initiative is intended to improve patient care, enhance diagnostic capabilities and strengthen access to quality healthcare services for the local community.
As part of its environmental sustainability efforts, the company has also undertaken a plantation drive across the region to increase green cover and encourage community participation in environmental conservation. The initiative supports biodiversity, promotes cleaner surroundings and reflects BYD’s broader commitment to sustainable development beyond electric mobility.
Commenting on the initiatives, Rajeev Chauhan, Head of Electric Passenger Vehicles (EPV) Business at BYD India, said sustainability extends beyond manufacturing clean mobility solutions and includes creating meaningful, long-term value for communities. He noted that investments in education, healthcare and environmental stewardship are essential for building stronger and healthier societies.
The company said the projects align with BYD’s global sustainability strategy, which combines technological innovation with community development. Globally, BYD has sold more than 16.5 million New Energy Vehicles (NEVs), contributing significantly to the reduction of carbon emissions. As the company continues to expand its presence in India, it plans to further strengthen its focus on sustainable mobility while supporting community welfare through targeted CSR initiatives.
Through these projects, BYD India aims to create lasting social impact by improving educational infrastructure, strengthening public healthcare and promoting environmental sustainability across communities in Tamil Nadu.
