New Delhi, 15 June 2026: The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) will organize the Global Wind Day 2026 Conference in Goa on June 15, bringing together policymakers, industry leaders, regulators, and renewable energy experts to discuss the future of India’s wind energy sector.
The conference, themed “Wind Energy: From Ambition to Acceleration,” will be led by Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy Pralhad Joshi and Minister of State for New and Renewable Energy Shripad Yesso Naik.
Senior officials from MNRE, the Central Electricity Authority (CEA), Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI), Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency (IREDA), National Institute of Wind Energy (NIWE), Grid India, state governments, and key industry associations are expected to participate in the event.
India currently ranks as the world’s fourth-largest wind power market and has set ambitious targets of achieving 100 GW of wind energy capacity by 2030 and 155 GW by 2035. Wind power is expected to play a crucial role in helping the country achieve its broader goal of 500 GW of non-fossil fuel-based energy capacity by 2030 and net-zero emissions by 2070.
Highlighting the sector’s momentum, Joshi noted that India added a record 6.1 GW of wind energy capacity during 2025-26, underscoring the impact of supportive policies and industry collaboration. He emphasized that the next phase of growth will require faster execution, stronger implementation, and greater focus on global competitiveness.
MNRE Secretary Santosh Kumar Sarangi will also address the gathering. Discussions during the conference will focus on key challenges and opportunities, including grid readiness, resource adequacy, capacity expansion, domestic manufacturing, export potential, forecasting technologies, and renewable energy integration.
Several industry reports and knowledge papers will be released during the event, including a report titled “Elevating India’s Wind Turbine Exports for Global Markets,” which explores opportunities for positioning India as a global manufacturing and export hub for wind turbine technologies.
The conference will feature plenary sessions and panel discussions involving government agencies, regulators, developers, manufacturers, and industry experts. Participants are expected to deliberate on practical measures to accelerate project deployment, strengthen domestic supply chains, and support the next phase of India’s clean energy transition.
As India seeks to expand its renewable energy footprint, the Global Wind Day 2026 Conference is expected to serve as an important platform for shaping the future roadmap of the country’s wind energy sector.
