New Delhi : At least 289 students from the surrounding areas of Odisha’s Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL), who were trained under MCL’s ‘SAKSHAM’ CSR initiative, have successfully secured employment in prominent industries.

These students received their offer letters during a convocation ceremony held at the NITCON Foundation in Angul.

S.K. Sinha, General Manager (CSR) of MCL, represented the organization at the event.

Through the ‘Saksham’ initiative, MCL aims to enhance skill development in the mining sector by training 1,010 candidates in collaboration with NITCON Foundation. The project is designed to equip youth with industry-relevant skills across various mining fields, according to GM-CSR Sinha.

So far, a total of 540 candidates have completed their training, including 132 women and 408 men. Female participants are being trained in roles such as mine electrician, mine welder, and HEMM mechanic, contributing to increased gender diversity within the workforce, he added.
