Marking World Youth Skills Day 2026, HDFC Bank Parivartan, the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative of HDFC Bank, reaffirmed its commitment to building a skilled and future-ready workforce by announcing that its skilling and livelihood programmes have positively impacted 9.6 lakh individuals since inception.
Aligned with this year’s global theme, “Skills for a Shared Future,” the initiative continues to equip young people with industry-relevant skills, entrepreneurship opportunities and sustainable livelihood support, enabling them to actively participate in India’s rapidly evolving economy.
A key pillar of HDFC Bank Parivartan’s CSR strategy is its formal skill development programme. To date, more than 1.96 lakh youth have completed certification-based training through industry partners and institutions affiliated with the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC). The programmes span high-growth sectors including healthcare, retail, logistics, hospitality, banking, insurance, electric vehicle (EV) maintenance, information technology and digital technologies.
The training goes beyond technical education by incorporating soft skills, digital literacy, financial literacy and placement assistance, ensuring participants are better prepared for long-term employment. The initiative places special emphasis on improving employability among young women and underserved communities through industry-aligned learning pathways.
Beyond youth skilling, HDFC Bank Parivartan has also enabled livelihood opportunities for 7.6 lakh women and farmers through entrepreneurship development, community-based training and market linkage support. The programmes cover a diverse range of income-generating activities, including tailoring, handloom weaving, food processing, poultry farming, dairy management, mushroom cultivation, organic farming and other micro-enterprises.
Beneficiaries receive end-to-end support through access to equipment, mentoring, producer collectives, branding, packaging and market linkages. According to the Bank, these interventions have significantly enhanced income generation, financial independence and economic resilience, particularly among women participating in self-help groups and enterprise-based programmes.
The initiative has also demonstrated measurable impact during FY 2025–26. Around 85% of enrolled candidates successfully completed their training, while nearly 74% reported improvements in communication skills, digital literacy and interview preparedness. Placement rates ranged between 44.5% and 45.6% on average, with several projects achieving placement success rates of 70% to 92%.
Among those who secured employment, the median monthly salary reached approximately ₹15,000, representing nearly a 1.9-fold increase in earning potential after training. Women accounted for approximately 56% of all participants, while more than 1,000 youth with disabilities benefited from inclusive skilling programmes designed to improve accessibility and employment opportunities.
During the financial year, HDFC Bank Parivartan expanded its footprint by launching additional skill development centres and training programmes in cities including Jaipur, Meerut, Bareilly, Nagpur, Vadodara, Ranchi, Deoghar, Barasat, Malda, Jammu, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Bilaspur, Mahasamund, Bengaluru, Kolar, Delhi and Bhiwadi.
Commenting on the occasion, Nusrat Pathan, Head – CSR, HDFC Bank, said that India’s demographic dividend presents a significant opportunity to create a resilient and future-ready workforce. She emphasized that HDFC Bank Parivartan’s focus extends beyond vocational training to include entrepreneurship support, placement linkages and sustainable livelihood creation, empowering young people to contribute meaningfully to the country’s economic growth.
Currently, HDFC Bank Parivartan supports more than 150 active CSR projects across all 28 states and 8 Union Territories, focusing on six key areas including skill development, livelihood enhancement, education, healthcare, rural development, natural resource management and financial inclusion. Through these integrated interventions, the Bank aims to strengthen local communities, promote self-reliance and create lasting socio-economic impact across India.
